Session 2: Can the Cloud be Secured?

Disruptive technologies always present new security challenges. As Educational and Governmental entities continue to virtualize their IT environments, they must revisit not only their security architectures, but their policy and governance models. While Cloud computing can enable many cost saving benefits, and provide for enhanced continuity of operations, organizations must not defer their responsibility to provide a defense-in-depth strategy to safeguard confidential and private information.

The promise of reducing IT related expenses is driving the enthusiasm for Cloud Computing but cost reduction without security will keep Cloud Computing from delivering its expected promise.

This webcast will explore how the three different commonly accepted models for Cloud Service delivery SaaS (Software as a Service), PaaS (Platform as a Service), and IaaS (Infrastructure as a Service) can be implemented to drive efficiencies while maintaining desired security levels. In both the public, private and now Hybrid provider environments, virtual Infrastructure from multiple organizations are hosted in a multi-tenant fashion in order to maximize the efficiencies. This architecture creates some unique set of trust, security, compliance and SLA driven issues for public and Government Executives. Today, enterprises are looking towards cloud-computing solutions to augment and expand their on-premise infrastructure but only if consistent security can be maintained.
