11th Year Anniversary
Event: Webinar: Federal IPv6 Adoption: A Government Case Study
Federal IPv6 Adoption: A Government Case Study October 20, 2009 1-Hour Duration; Available On-Demand until 10/20/10

It is becoming increasingly important for Federal agencies to integrate Internet Protocol version 6 (IPv6) into their Enterprise in order to enable new mission capabilities. The need for ad-hoc communications, greater infrastructure flexibility, increasing situational awareness and decreasing decision times is driving the adoption of IPv6 across the US government. Recent executive guidance from the Office of Management and Budget (OMB) is requiring federal Chief Information Officer (CIO)s to not only develop concrete plans to deploy IPv6 within their infrastructure, but show progress in deploying IPv6 to support mission critical applications as part of their Enterprise Architecture (EA) framework. In addition, CIOs will be required to provide quarterly progress reports that include their IPv6 progress to OMB.

Leading the way with IPv6 is the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) with one of the most significant information technology (IT) infrastructures in the world - OneVA Enterprise Network. Viewed as a leader in federal IPv6 adoption and deployment they are aggressively moving forward with an IPv6 transition plan that will provide enhanced services to veterans and improve the overall capabilities of the OneVA Enterprise Network.

Attendees will learn:

  • The state of global IPv6 transition & Federal progress report
  • IPv6 integration into the EA scorecard
  • Strategies and lessons learned from the Veterans Administration
  • Best practices on planning for and deploying IPv6 within a federal environment
  • Securing your agency from IPv6 related threats and risks

Plus, all attendees will receive a copy of the white paper "Essential Next Steps in the U.S. Government Transition to Internet Protocol Version 6 (IPv6)".
